FAQ

1. Can you describe your Great Ocean Road trips? Where and how far do they go, what are some of the sights; are they escorted; how long – day trips or multi day?

Nevermind Adventure operates a weekly full day tour of the Great Ocean Rd and surrounds. Even the locals are surprised at the places we know about and have taken them - that’s why we call it the "secrets of the Great Ocean Road"!

We collect our riders from Avalon Airport or meet at our Geelong store and depart about 9am heading the region’s best bakery at Inverleigh for coffee and morning tea. It’s not just the destination that is amazing it’s the route - we will have you twisting and turning and winding and accelerating hard out of corners all of the way - none of this highway stuff for Nevermind Adventure – it’s the secret backroads that blow the minds of visitors and locals alike. Deans Marsh, Pennyroyal, Fergusson, Lavers Hill, Apollo Bay and Lorne are just some of the world class destinations you will ride to.

You will visit the Valley of Giants and see the tallest forests in Australia and fastest growing tree in the world. You will visit the oldest stand of Californian Redwoods outside of America and twist and roll your way along the world’s best stretch of coastal road - not to mention the pristine waterfalls and stunning hinterland villages.

Be prepared for a full and intense day - this is an assault on the senses but you will be well fed and full escorted by an experienced local trained in Motorcycle first aid.

We also offer customised tours for groups and can do multi day adventures up to several week expeditions to anywhere in Australia all with mechanical support, support vehicle and local guides!!

2. What makes the GOR so good for motorbikes? Would you rate it up there with some of the world’s other great rides (and what are some of the other great rides)?

The Great Ocean Road is an international motorcycling mecca for bikers. The mix of smooth winding sweeping corners and tight twisting hairpins is the stuff dreams are made of for any biker or even new motorcyclists. Throw in the fresh ocean breezes, stunning breathtaking landscapes and pristine forests of the hinterland and it’s really a hard push to find anything better. It really does not get any better than exploring the Great Ocean Rd, in particular   on a Royal Enfield, with the locals to show you around.

3. What type of bikes are used on the GOR and what makes them so suitable?

Over the 40 years of riding the Great Ocean Rd we have found that there is nothing more suitable than the Royal Enfield. The torque engines, cool classic looks and low weight combine to provide the perfect vehicle for the tight twisting corners, long sweepers and those amazing photos. They are also surprisingly capable on the first roads and extremely easy to ride making them suitable for all rider abilities.

4. How much experience is required?

Minimal experience - we take riders with over 40 years’ experience as well as complete novices. Being a supported ride it’s a great way to get your confidence up for one of our longer rides, so we actually offer the Great Ocean Road day complimentary for those booked on a larger international tours.

5. Are bikes available at Avalon Airport?

We offer a complimentary morning pick up service from Avalon Airport on the morning of the ride as the Jetstar flight from Sydney arrives at 0830hrs. The shop is an easy 15 minute transfers away and your bike will be waiting for you. After the ride we offer a complimentary transfer back to Avalon airport to catch the Jetstar 2030hrs back to Sydney (* flights subject to change therefore transfer offer subject to change). This is a great way to ride the Great Ocean Road in a day from Sydney!

As flight schedules from other cities increase we will also hope to offer a similar service for those coming from all other capitals so watch this space. In the meantime customers from other cities and international arrivals can join us on the morning of the tour or we can assist in arranging accommodation in and around Geelong.

We also offer motorcycle hire out of Avalon Airport however this must be booked with us in advance (at least 10 days in advance) so we can ensure we have your motorcycle of choice ready to meet your arrival!

6. How long have you been operating the business and how did you get into it; are you a GOR local?

We have been running for 6 years and now operate over 50 tours each year taking nearly 800 people a year to ride all over the world from all over the world.

We operate a school for underprivileged children in India and our motorcycle tours were initially created as a way to raise funds and awareness of this project. We believe that every child should have access to schooling, creating brighter futures for all.

7. How much for a GOR trip?

$295 for the full day and this includes current model Royal Enfield motorcycle (we have all models, some customised options such as a scrambler and sidecar outfit), fuel, Avalon Airport pickups (for Friday flights only unless otherwise agreed), coffee, lunch, local guide trained in motorcycle first aid and full mechanical and support van. Any flights are your own arrangements, however, our travel team can assist if required.
