Day 1 - 18 th February
Geelong - Port Fairy 7 to 8 hours.
Airport Pickups from Avalon Airport/Tullamarine or meet at Geelong Nevermind store ready to depart by 8am.
If you are coming in the night before we recommend spending some time in Geelong’s Little Malop St, Waterfront and Pakington St (home of Nevermind Adventure). Also, an early morning hearty breakfast at The Box Office Cafe just a short walk from the shop for the best coffee in town and a unique vibe.
Nevermind Store - Geelong West - Briefing and practice ride before following "The Deviation" and heading way out west following the historic Barwon River through Fyansford, Ceres and the beautiful winding roads of the Barrabool Hills. Stopping at the old frontier town of Inverleigh and the Inverleigh Bakehouse for a morning tea break and some more great coffee and a stretch. Great time to adjust bikes and discuss the ride ahead amongst the stunning and ancient river red gums of the Leigh and Barwon river confluence. This short little secret section between Geelong and Inverleigh will have all bikers "frothing".
Riding Inverleigh to Deans Marsh you will see the landscape change from rolling farmland to eucalyptus forests and twisty roads.
Stopping for a stretch at the old forestry towns of Barwon Downs and Forrest, the forests become giants and the eucalyptus become dominated by the world’s fastest growing trees and Australia's largest at over 80 metres - meet the mountain ash!!
Twist your way along the forest ridge along Turton's track - one of Australia’s best kept secrets. You will never ever forget this place, the aroma of rainforest and fresh mountain air mixed with sea salt.
Stopping at an organic cafe in the country at Fergusson for a fresh local lunch. Read about the fascinating history of the region while you wait.
Zigzag through the cosy villages of Simpson, Cobden and Timboon (perhaps a wee drop at the distillery?)
Ride through the bustling old whaling capital of Victoria’s wild west Warrnambool, then pull up stumps at The Stump - one of Australia's oldest hotels in the what may be Australia's most beautiful coastal town - definitely one of the wildest.
